Rider Training FAQ
We strongly recommend you read these frequently asked questions before registering for any of our motorcycle training courses. These reflect our policies to date.
ARE THE MOTORCYCLE COURSES PHYSICALLY DEMANDING?
Yes. The motorcycle training courses can be physically demanding, with many hours of riding time during the course. As such, it may not be suitable for all students. If you have any medical problems that will prevent you from pushing a motorcycle, please contact us for further information.
We strongly recommend that a student have the ability and experience of riding a conventional (pedal) bicycle before taking this course.
WHAT AM I REQUIRED TO BRING WITH ME TO THE TRAINING?
Students are required to bring the following:
For practical sessions:
Must be Department of Transportation approved.
Gloves, preferably leather
Finger-less gloves are not permitted.
Sturdy jacket and pants
Leather or denim.
Boots that cover the ankle
Leather preferred. Rain/rubber boots are not permitted.
Course will remain underway regardless of weather.
For classroom sections:
Current NS Drivers License
Learners/beginners license, at a minimum.
Copy of your receipt indicating payment for the course
All students under the age of 19 MUST have a parent or guardian signed waiver on the FIRST night of their course
WHAT AM I NOT PERMITTED TO WEAR?
Some items may inhibit or hinder your ability to ride safely. As such, sneakers and rubber boots are not permitted. Also note that boots with higher than average heels will also hinder your ability to operate the foot controls.
Steel toe boots are not recommended.
WHAT TIME SHOULD I ARRIVE?
Please arrive 20 minutes before course is scheduled to begin.

WHY DO THE COURSE PRICES NOT INCLUDE HST?
Safety Services Nova Scotia is a registered charity, and does not charge HST.
CAN I SPREAD MY COURSE OUT OVER TWO WEEKENDS?
No. You must take the course on the weekend allotted for the course. You may not spread a course over two weekends or multiple dates or times.
