Earn your Nova Scotia motorcycle licence with Safety Services Nova Scotia, the province's trusted leader in motorcycle training. Our provincially approved motorcycle training course combines online learning with hands-on riding instruction to help you build the skills and confidence needed to ride safely.

Upon successful completion of the course, our provincially accredited instructors can issue your Nova Scotia motorcycle driver's licence, eliminating the need for a road test through Access Nova Scotia.

A training motorcycle is provided for all practical training sessions.

What You'll Learn on our course

The course includes:

  • Online self-paced training covering motorcycle safety, street strategies, risk management, hazard awareness, and essential riding techniques.

  • In-person practical training using proven building-block learning principles to develop safe, controlled riding skills in a supportive environment.

  • A online test and on-bike rider evaluation.

To successfully complete the course, students must pass both the online test and the practical riding evaluation.

What to Bring

Students must bring the following to every practical training session:

  • DOT-approved motorcycle helmet (minimum DOT standard)

  • Full-finger gloves (preferably leather; fingerless gloves are not permitted)

  • Sturdy jacket and long pants (leather or denim recommended)

  • Boots that fully cover the ankle (leather preferred; sneakers and rubber boots are not permitted)

  • Rain gear (courses run rain or shine)

  • Valid Nova Scotia driver's licence (minimum Class 7 Learner's Licence)

  • Certificate of completion for the online portion of the course

  • Course payment receipt

Eligibility

  • Students must be 16 to 75 years of age.

  • A valid Nova Scotia driver's licence (minimum Class 7 Learner's Licence) is required.

  • Motorcycle training is physically demanding. Students should be able to safely balance and push a motorcycle. If you have a medical condition or mobility concern, please contact us before registering to discuss whether the course is suitable for you.

Motorcycle training courses are offered throughout Nova Scotia, including: Bridgewater, Dartmouth, Halifax, Kentville, Membertou, Middleton, Stellarton, and Truro

$699 (non-member)
$649 (member)

SPLIT PAYMENT OPTION
We now offer split payment option for all available dates and locations of our Motorcycle Training and Licensing course.

Payment Terms
The $699 registration fee can be paid in two instalments:

  • $350 a non-refundable deposit must be paid at registration

  • $349 must be paid 45 days prior to the course date

To use the split payment option, please call the Safety Services Nova Scotia office at (902) 454-9621. This option is not available for online registrations and does not apply to any other Safety Services Nova Scotia courses.
