Safety Services Nova Scotia is seeking part-time, seasonal motorcycle trainers, who are passionate about motorcycle safety.
Qualifications:
License: you must have a current valid motorcycle license and a good driving record. A driving abstract will be requested.
Motorcycle: you must own a properly licensed motorcycle and be an active rider with a minimum of three years riding experience in Nova Scotia.

Job Description
Safety Services Nova Scotia (SSNS) is seeking a Senior Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) Consultant to join our growing team in Halifax. In this role, you will be a trusted advisor, mentor, and advocate for safer workplaces across the province, helping organizations assess risks, develop practical safety solutions, and implement effective policies and programs in compliance with OHS regulations and standards, including the OHS Act of Nova Scotia, Canada Labour Code Part II, and ISO 45001.
You will lead complex projects, conduct certified safety audits and gap assessments, and design and deliver engaging training sessions for diverse audiences, from small teams to large groups. Mentoring colleagues, fostering a culture of learning, and promoting best practices will be key parts of your role, alongside providing expert guidance to senior management and influencing safety practices across organizations.
This position also offers opportunities to support the growth of SSNS services, build client relationships, and represent the organization at events, client sites, and training sessions. Key Responsibilities
· Design and deliver engaging, practical training sessions that inspire diverse audiences, from small teams to large groups.
· Continuously develop and update training materials that raise the standard for workplace safety across Nova Scotia.
· Partner with major clients to assess risks and develop comprehensive safety policies, programs, and inspection processes.
· Provide expert guidance on solving complex safety challenges while ensuring compliance with occupational health and safety regulations and industry best practices.
· Conduct certified safety audits, gap assessments, and workplace inspections, providing actionable recommendations to improve safety outcomes.
· Influence and shape safety practices at client organizations, contributing to stronger safety cultures province wide.
· Support the expansion of SSNS’s consulting and training services, increasing client engagement and promoting SSNS as a trusted safety partner.
· Identify opportunities for service improvement and contribute to the development of initiatives that enhance workplace safety.
· Coach, mentor, and develop new and experienced consultants, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth.
· Represent SSNS at client sites, industry events, and community initiatives, advocating for workplace safety and supporting the organization’s mission.
Key Competencies
· Technical Expertise: In-depth knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations and standards (OHS Act of NS, Canada Labour Code Part II, ISO 45001), with the ability to conduct certified safety audits, gap assessments, and inspections. Strong analytical skills to assess risks, interpret data, and develop practical solutions, along with proficiency in using software tools for data analysis, reporting, and presentations.
· Training & Facilitation: Ability to design, deliver, and adapt engaging training sessions and materials for diverse audiences, from small teams to large groups. Skilled at conveying complex safety information clearly, effectively, and practically. Experienced in mentoring colleagues and fostering a positive learning culture.
· Communication & Interpersonal Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact confidently with individuals at all organizational levels. Strong relationship-building skills for client engagement, business growth, and promoting organizational reputation.
· Leadership & Project Management: Capable of leading complex projects and guiding organizations in implementing safety programs. Strong organizational and time-management skills to handle multiple priorities and meet deadlines. Experienced in influencing and advising senior management and stakeholders.
· Business Development & Client Focus: Experienced in contributing to business development, service growth, and client trust, with sales or consulting experience considered an asset.
· Professionalism & Adaptability: Able to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment. Flexible to travel and represent SSNS at events, client sites, and training sessions. Committed to maintaining a professional, ethical, and inclusive approach in all work activities.
Requirements
· Certificate or degree in Occupational Health and Safety preferred.
· Professional certifications such as Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP), Canadian Registered Safety Technician (CRST) or equivalent preferred.
· Proven experience (5+ years) in health and safety training, consulting, and auditing.
· In-depth knowledge of relevant health and safety regulations and standards (e.g., OHS Act of NS and pursuant regulations, Canada Labour Code Part II, ISO 45001).
· Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess risks, analyze data, and develop effective solutions.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact confidently with individuals at all levels of organizations.
· Must be able to work within a team environment as well as independently.
· Demonstrated ability to facilitate training sessions and deliver complex information in an engaging, clear, and concise manner.
· Proficient in using computer software for data analysis, report writing, and presentation purposes.
· Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
· Sales background and skills are an asset.
· Must have reliable vehicle and be willing to travel (compensation for travel is provided).

DRIVING SCHOOL INSTRUCTOR:
Safety Services Nova Scotia is seeking driving school instructors in part-time and/or full-time capacities.
Qualifications:
License: minimum class 5 license (no N or R allowed)
Taken or willing to take a 10 day Driver Instructor Course
Have not within 10 years before your application for an instructors license, been convicted of:
an offence under subsection 97(1) or Section 100, 101 or 163 of the Act, or
an unpardoned offence against a person or a sexual offense under the Criminal Code (Canada)
within 10 years before your application for an instructor license, had your driver’s license suspended, cancelled or revoked under Section 278 or subsection 282(6) or 283(6) of the Act
